What we know today as youth fashion did not begin to develop until the middle of the 19th century when girls began to wear short dresses, albeit almost never below the knee. Although the clothing line was based on that of adults, they moved away from the rigid cut as far as possible to allow the physical contours to have more freedom. Even girls wore a corset back then, but unlike adult women who wore a very tight corset, it was just a support for posture. However, girls only started wearing such clothes after the age of five, primarily for practical reasons, as both boys and girls wore vests that were neutral in shape until the age of five.
It was precisely during these years that the distinction between the color pink and blue started to become valuable, which has since been assigned to girls and boys, while before that distinction such colors didn’t know any gender.
